Attendance

The DfE enforces regulations regarding attendance and lateness. At Temple Grove, we believe all pupils from Reception to Year 6 are only able to achieve their full potential if they attend school regularly and on time.

The Headteacher decides whether or not to authorise pupil absence from school.

The school day is from 8:45am – 3:15pm. School registers close at 9.00am.

Late arrival is recorded by the school. All lateness and absentees are reported to the DfE.

Holiday

All requests for holidays must be submitted to the Headteacher. These must be for exceptional circumstances. No holidays must be arranged in term time.

Reporting Absences

Absences should be reported to absence@templegroveacademy.com – Please email or telephone (01892 520562 Option 1) as soon as possible, giving a reason for your child’s absence. Future absences, such as medical appointments, can also be reported using this email address.

It is the parents’ responsibility to contact the school as soon as possible on the first day their child is absent, and on a daily basis until the child returns to school. This is a safeguarding requirement so that all parties know that your child is safe and their whereabouts are known.

Please do not ask members of staff to pass messages to the office as these do not always reach us.

The current law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time. Any application for leave must be in exceptional circumstances and must be made, via the email address above, at least two weeks in advance. The Headteacher must be satisfied that the circumstances are exceptional before granting the leave. Parents may be fined for taking their child out of school during term time without consent from the school.
